My Deprived Children

My poor children.

I got some last minute groceries last night, and in a moment of temporary weakness, I bought something for my children I've apparently never bought before.

Doughnuts

They were SO EXCITED.  They kept telling me how much they loved me and they couldn't wait to eat them.  I told them they could have them for breakfast in the morning and they were like, what, you eat doughnuts for breakfast???  Then Logan, my oldest, asks me, "Do you just eat doughnuts plain, or do you eat them with milk, or what???"

Um, ya, my kids apparently have never had doughnuts before.

I explained to Logan you can eat them either way, they're both yummy.  As soon as I told him that, he ran over to Colton and shared his new found wisdom.  

This morning when I woke them up for school, which is normally a very painful job, all three children jumped out of bed and quickly got dressed, so excited to indulge in their scrumptious breakfast.

I guess it really is the little things in life that can bring the most joy :)

Oh, and the best part is, after they were done eating and getting their things together for school, Colton looked at me and said, 

"Man, doughnuts don't make you feel very good after you eat them, do they."

Well said, son :)

Super Fun Weekend

I had such a super fun weekend!

My sister, Erin, came over and we had a slumber party on Friday night!

We went out for a MUCH NEEDED girls night, to celebrate Julia's 30th B-Day!  I had Thai food for the first time and it was pretty scrumptious! 

 I'd like to give kudos to our waiter, Nick.  He ordered us a special Thai dish that wasn't even on the menu, that ended up being my favorite dish that night.  Then he sang a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday to the birthday girl.  I'm pretty sure he wasn't annoyed with the group of loud, crazy women he had to wait on at all ;)

The best part was Erin and I staying up until 2:30 in the morning talking and laughing together.  I couldn't tell you anything we talked about, but I do remember that EVERYTHING seemed EXTREMELY funny!  Thanks for the laughs little sis!

(side note: Aaron was on shift, so it wasn't weird with Erin sleeping in my bed or anything :)

Then, Saturday morning started out with a super cute new hair do!

After breakfast and some non frustrating preparations, you know, because we have totally cooperative children that listen to everything we tell them to do and always obey, we headed off to the zoo.

So much fun!  We rode our bikes around the zoo.  That is seriously the only way to go.  It was awesome!

Since Saturday was also my free day, we finished the day off with Barros Pizza and then Katie took us to this wonderful place called, Bahama Bucks.  I had a strawberry colada snow cone with tropic creme mixed in and it was DELISH!!!  Thanks Katie for adding another sweet treat for me to add to my cravings list.

Sunday morning we woke up to this beautiful t.p. job, someone young, in our ward, of the female gender, around 13 years old or so, that had a little tp party last night and then bragged about it, left for us.  All I can say is payback is coming, and me and my home girls will definitely be schooling some young ones on the proper way to tp :)  Hee hee, can't wait!

Well, it was a super fun, super full weekend.  Thanks Erin for the fun sleep over!  Can't wait for the next time Steve goes snow boarding without you :)

You Go, Girl!

Look who finally learned how to ride a bike!!!

Woo Hoo!!!

It's not her fault she just learned, she's been begging us to teach her for about a year now.  The last time I tried I was 9 months prego and it was about 1000 degrees out.  Needless to say that lesson only lasted about 5 minutes.  So, Gracie's super awesome, and apparently, very fit, daddy took her out and taught her to ride.  It took about 2 seconds.  I guess she was ready :)  I think Aaron ran the equivalent of a marathon that day.  She can ride perfect, but if Aaron stopped running next to her she would start to freak out and fall.  

And of course I, being the great mom I am, sat on a chair, and cheered real loud for her.

Way to go, Gracie!!!

Fit Club

I AM SO SICK!!!

So, I started this healthy competition.  You earn points for eating your fruits and veggies, having healthy meals, drinking water, not having sweets and exercising.  You get one free day a week.  

Today was my free day.  

I can't even sit up straight right now.  I have eaten nothing but DELICIOUS junk food all day!

My wonderful friends Julianne and Katie, made the MOST DELECTABLE desserts today and were so very kind to share them.

I ate Julianne's dessert for breakfast.  It was wonderful.

I nibbled on unhealthy snacks throughout the day.

I found out Katie made the same dessert this evening.

I, of course, called her and pretended like I hadn't already devoured the same dessert early today.

Being the super friend she is, she sent over a plate of heavenly goodness for me this evening.

It had 5 pieces on it.

Aaron is at work so there are only 4 of us.

Ya, do the math.

I AM SO SICK!!!

I can't wait to eat healthy again tomorrow.

I even lectured Aaron on the phone about making sure he didn't cheat today.  (He already took his free day) I might have even had a dessert in my hands while I lectured him about eating his vegetables.

UGH!

I just want to go put on my maternity pants and lay down.

I can't wait until tomorrow.

Late Night Concerts

This is how I find Aaron and our kids on a regular basis.  I love it.  I will hear the guitar being played and I love to sneak around the corner to watch him playing and the kids laying contently listening.  This was Ava's very own personal concert.  She ended up falling asleep to his playing.  I know how she feels.  That's one of my favorite ways to fall asleep, too.

Happy Birthday, Babe!!!

Poor Aaron.  His birthday is Christmas day!  Every year I feel like his birthday is completely overshadowed by the holiday.  I always make it a goal to make his birthday special for him, but it just always seems like it gets pushed aside for stupid Christmas. (J/K!!!  I love Christmas, relax)  Aaron is always so great about his birthday.  He never complains.  I'm just going to be honest here, if it were me, I'd most likely complain.  I know that shocks most of you, but I seriously think I would.  So, here were my best efforts at giving Aaron a special birthday, day.  We had dinner at my mom's house, (my mom made the whole dinner) then we had yummy chocolate cake, (made by my mom)  Which was accompanied by ice cream, ( I totally bought the ice cream) We sang happy birthday and everyone snuggled him all night long.  Ok, the snuggling didn't happen until later that night :) but everyone was extremely nice to him.  

I love you so much, babe!!!

Family Fun

 I love Christmas break with the kids all home!  We had so much fun these last two weeks.  It's been great just being together and not having to get up early for school or having to do homework at night.  Last week we had a great day of shooting with friends.

Here's Gracie shootin' Bree's awesome PINK gun!  It was the only gun Gracie would touch, you know, because it was pink.  She was a pretty good shot, too.  I know Bree loved taking turns helping Ben and Gracie shoot over and over again.  Thanks Bree!

Oh, and this fun day wouldn't have been complete without Gracie hitting "the stance" at least once.  This was the, I want to shoot the pink gun again and so I'm going to fold my arms and actually produce real tears until someone (Bree) lets me shoot again, stance.  It worked, so, I'm pretty sure she learned a great lesson about throwing tantrums.  

And we all felt super safe all day, because The Big J was packin' heat!  Whew, thanks for keepin' us safe, Julia.

  

Then we had a super fun day playing in the snow!

Gracie was a little dare devil!

She went off of the highest hills with no fear.  Once we turned around and she was gone.  We finally saw her with a sled in one hand making the trek up the tallest hill there was.  She literally had to crawl up on her hands and knees at one point.  When she got to the top there was a teenage girl up there contemplating whether or not she was actually going to go down, and Gracie just plopped her sled down and asked the girl if she would give her a push.  Gracie flew down the hill like lightning.  She even hit a jump and landed it.  I was freaking out.  People all around us were pointing her out.  The teenage girl told me that she knew she was going to have to go down after a 6 year old just showed her up.  Oh, Gracie, although I almost had a heart attack, I sure love your fearless personality.

Here's Logan taking off on one of the jumps he found.  He was having a blast finding higher and higher jumps that would cause his mother to freak out.  So being the great mom I am, I took pictures.

Overall it's been a great couple of weeks.  I'm actually sad my kids have to go back to school tomorrow. Oh well, spring break will be here before we know it :)
